In Memoriam

When animals die, there's a Rainbow Bridge

If you would like to remember or create a legacy for your animal that has passed away, you can pay tribute to it with a picture and a short description of your animal’s life for a donation of as little as $25 or more.

Budster

We moved into a new house in February of 2008 and by the spring we noticed there was some sort of animal living under the garden shed. We enticed it out with some food and saw that it was a cat. He was a long-haired black cat that was very skinny and very nervous. We took him in and called him Budster. This was not a feral cat as he was very friendly. Someone must have dumped him on the road behind our house. Budster was with us for 10 great years.

Flora

This is my dog Flora. She passed away on 29th Nov 2016, a month away from her 15th birthday. She was the perfect being, a Buddha. I still call out her name quite often so that her grace can enter inside me to give comfort and strength. Look forward to seeing you again, my darling Flora.

Dickie

Dickie

Beautiful Dickie died January 2021 of Brain Cancer. He was returned to ORA after the couple that had him for 10 years divorced. Unfortunately no one wanted him so Dickie came home. He settled in right away cozying up to the other cats and rubbing his body against his human caregivers. He had such a lovely disposition, even though he was a large cat he never bullied or intimate the other residents.

He was a very special cat and he is greatly missed.

Jazzy

Jazzy

Jazzy came to ORA when he was 12 years old, because his owner went into a Retirement home that wasn’t pet friendly. We had made arrangements for jazzy to go to an adoptive home, however the people decided not to rescue a 12 year old dog. Jazzy was so sweet and smart. His original owners were good to Jazzy he had a very high self esteem and was not intimated by the other dogs. It seemed that Jazzy's age prohibited him from getting a home of his own. Their loss and definitely our gain. He was active and healthy for another 5 years. I always think about how special my little darling was and how much you are missed.

Max

Max

My funny, crazy Max. I loved your very sweet dance whenever I said your name. You were such a brave soul its so sad to think of how many animals have succumbed to cancer. I wish you were still with us you had such a c’est pour la vie. I hope so much to see you again one day my beautiful Max.
