Help Prolong the quality of life of our animals

Over the years ORA has rescued hundreds of cats and dogs and found them forever loving homes and we continue to rescue both cats and dogs in need of a safe and loving space. It’s thanks to support from people like you that each of these animals, that have been through so much can now find a warm, safe place to rest and receive the unconditional love they deserve. As a result of our no-kill policy, many of the cats and dogs under our care which don’t get adopted are now seniors. They live and thrive in a cage-free, safe and comfortable sanctuary setting with all the comforts a home can provide.

Through our Animal Sponsorship program you can virtually adopt one of our pets. This program is great if you would like to help one of ORA’s dogs or cats, but are not ready to adopt any at the moment, are unable to add another pet to your menagerie, or perhaps you live far away and it’s not physically possible acquire the pet.

If you share our sentiments that animals should not be euthanized because of their age, we encourage you to sponsor one of our senior animals.

WHY SPONSOR

ORA’s dogs and cats are permanent residents of our sanctuary. Many are affected by some medical problem that requires regular treatment or they may have behavioural issues. Others have simply been with us for many years and at this point in their lives any change in environment would be too traumatic for them.

Sponsoring an animal will help us continue to give them the quality of life they deserve in an environment where they already feel safe and with people they have grown to know and trust. As a Sponsor, you will benefit from knowing that your investment helps us prolong their lives in a humane way.

When you sponsor any of these animals, we will send you:

  1. An up-to-date picture twice a year
  2. Regular information about how the sponsored animal is doing and how it is spending its days
  3. Updates about the animal’s health and results of its medical checkups etc.

If the dog or cat you select has already been sponsored by someone else, we will let you know. You may choose to sponsor another animal or, if you wish, co-sponsor the same animal.

COST OF SPONSORSHIP

You may want to sponsor a dog or cat by covering all the expenses for that animal or just by donating a fixed amount every month or at regular intervals to cover some of the expenses.

On average, the monthly cost of feeding one of our animals is just a little over $45.00. For example, we feed our cats a diet composed 40% of premium canned cat food (containing human graded ingredients), 50% raw diet, 10% cooked home-made food. High quality holistic dry food is given only as a snack, once a week. Monthly, we spend an additional $5 to $6 per cat in supplements, vitamins, acidophilus, etc.

There is an additional cost for the dogs and cats that need constant treatment and medication, on average $30 to $50, according to the medications they need and the frequency of tests and veterinarian examinations required.
